Polished pewter or sterling silver?  Pewter's base metal is tin, and when mixed with alloys to make it stronger, makes an elegant pewter gift and functional product.  When polished, pewter looks just like sterling silver in that is has a lustrous shine.  However, sterling silver pieces are not only much more expensive but they tarnish easily whereas polished pewter does not tarnish and is very affordable!
